Theriault's Auction In New Orleans
The auction preview started at 9am and continued until near midnight. The auction was held in a giant ballroom, and it was packed--collectors from all over the world attended. Competition was fierce for many of the lovely dolls from the Peggy Lancaster collection,
but collectors with a sharp eye were able to bring home a fantastic doll at a good price.
Before going further, I do need to apologize for not reporting on the auction last night, as promised. I had a rather fun surprise--my husband, Russ, showed up in New Orleans (without the children!) to attend convention with me! He showed up about 2/3 through the Theriault's auction. I was, to say the least, flabbergasted (as I slowly kicked the bags of dolls that I had bought toward my friend, so he wouldn't see they were mine). So, reporting on the auction simply had to wait until today!
Prices at the auction were strong, especially for some of the rarer lady and early dolls. You can see the dolls from the auction, and if you are a subscriber to Theriault's auction catalog, the prices realized at the auction at Theriaults.com
Later today, I'll have a few of the prices realized, plus a report on this morning's Dynamic Doll Dialogues, and my afternnon seminar. Ev en later today are official opening ceremonies and the Grand Opening of the Sales Room! New Orleans is such a fabulous place for a doll convention--my hubbie (who actually registered for the convention today--a total miracle!) and I just got back from lunch at Emeril Lagasse's NOLA restaurant, which was pure heaven and can only enhance today's doll experiences.
