Madame Alexander Dolls And Their Fabulous Costuming

Thursday June 5, 2003
Although I should expect it by now, I'm always surprised and thrilled by the delicate Madame Alexander doll costuming when I unbox new Madame Alexander dolls. For instance, take the new Peru doll from their International series. The doll has a costume of that wonderful, rough woven fabric that is found everwhere in Peru. But, somehow, the fabric was done to scale and not too heavy--just right for an 8" doll!

Then, there's the special Wendy's Anniversary Trunk Set. This new set is to commemorate both the 50th anniversary of the Wendy doll, and the 80th birthday of Madame Alexander. This Wendy has the most delicate outfit of pink and white, and she comes with three additional, elaborate outfits, a tiny Madame Alexander doll, a jump rope, and a large trunk with one side for clothing and the other side for a mini doll!

As I was putting these dolls out today in my shop, a women came by and sighed, and said "I wish I had a child to give these too!" I tried to explain to her that no child was necessary, that most of my customers were adults who purchased dolls for themselves--including the marvelous Madame Alexander fashion dolls, and that women even go to Madame Alexander doll conventions, but to no avail. She doesn't know what she's missing!
