Reuben Wins American Idol and Rambling Related Doll Thoughts

Thursday May 22, 2003
Its finally over--and Reuben Studdard, the big Velvet Teddy Bear is the new American Idol!

Now, you're probably wondering how that information relates to a doll blog, but I got to thinking during the 2 hour finale (and, given that the finale was 2 minutes of substance and 118 minutes of filler, I had lots of time to think...) and what I thought was that Reuben AND Clay Aiken, the runner-up, would make great dolls!

No, really, think of the possibilities! The Reuben doll could come dressed in his famous 205 tee-shirt. He could have an extra outfit of one of those fancy suits they put him in by the end of the competition. And, there could be a little velvet teddy bear in the box as a bonus...adorable!

The Clay doll could be Geeky Clay (before HIS professional American Idol makeover) and coud come with the geeky, spiky red hair and bad glasses. His extra outfit could be that cool tuxedo he wore doing "Mack the Knife" and he could come with a wig for his "fixed" hair. Hours of fun!

Seriously, though, celebrity dolls have ALWAYS been popular and great sellers. Check out my Celebrity Dolls: What You Need To Know article and my recent (like, 6 hours ago!) Book Review on the new Shirley Temple Identification and Price Guide, Volume II.
